We built the Branch infrastructure to power world-class deep linked user experiences. Our bar for attribution has always been higher because accurate user identification is critical for deep linking. That’s why we created Predictive Modeling, a sophisticated attribution system based on a large number of truth signals that leads to increased matching accuracy. These signals are device-level and privacy-safe, and no other MMP has them.
Predictive Modeling is available for ad attribution when users opt into ad tracking via Apple’s AppTrackingTransparency (ATT) modal, and is always available to measure organic, non-paid channels.
Starting with iOS 14.5, apps will be required to gain user consent for device-level ad tracking via Apple's AppTrackingTransparency modal. This covers all methods for device-level ad attribution, including IDFAs, fingerprint IDs, session IDs, and device graph identifiers. If apps do not secure user opt-in, then SKAdNetwork is the only acceptable alternative for ad attribution on iOS.
SKAdNetwork is the only acceptable attribution framework on iOS if users do not opt in to device-level ad tracking. SKAdNetwork anonymizes attribution and eliminates user-level data. Branch is committed to supporting SKAdNetwork to help support your attribution efforts.
Our deferred deep linking capabilities, Journeys smart banners, and Universal Email functionality are organic/owned channels that have never relied on device-level identifiers. Since these products leverage organic means to acquire users, they are outside the scope of the type of ad tracking Apple is cracking down on. We believe Apple’s new policy is ultimately pushing the industry towards the world that Branch has been promoting since inception: focusing on the user experience and full customer lifecycle.
